Closing the Gap Canada: Action for Health Equity is only a month away — we’ve been so excited each week to introduce more and more champions of upstream thinking in Canada who will join us in Ottawa April 3.
Cindy Blackstock is the Executive Director of the First Nations Child & Family Caring Society of Canada where she has fought for over 9 years to have the rights of First Nations children affirmed in Canada’s highest courts. She is also an associate professor at the University of Alberta and founder of the First Nations Children’s Action Research and Education Service. Danyaal Raza is a Toronto-based family physician and advocate for upstream thinking. His writing, research and advocacy focuses on the social determinants of health, and healthy public policy. Based at the Department of Family & Community Medicine of St. Michael’s Hospital, he is also a Lecturer of Family Medicine at the University of Toronto. Armine Yalnizyan is the Senior Economist with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. She is a twice weekly contributor to CBC Radio’s Metro Morning and appears weekly on the Big Picture panel, a popular feature of Canada’s premier business-news program, CBC-TV’s The Exchange. |
