Light It Up Blue Autism Awareness Event at FNUniv
For the second year, the Light It Up Blue autism awareness event will be held at First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv) Regina campus. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 2 from 10 am to 12 noon in the Atrium.
Light it Up Blue is an international event that was launched in 2010 in support of World Autism Awareness Day on April 2. In Regina, the first Light It Up Blue event was held last year. It was organized by FNUniv student Jeanelle Mandes.
Mandes says it is important for people with autism to be recognized within our communities. “I hope this day can bring understanding, acceptance, hope and pride for the community,” she says.
Mandes has invited speakers from the ministries of Health and Education, the Autism Resource Centre, Regina-Qu’Appelle Health District, parents, families and children with autism to attend this event.
