The University of Regina Research Office received funding from the Indigenous Advisory Circle to hold an Indigenous Research Day. We had a very productive meeting on January 20, 2016 of faculty, staff and students interested in helping to move the event forward. We would still welcome more input to make sure this day reflects a celebration of the diversity of Indigenous research, scholarly and creative activity undertaken by members of the University community.
Our next meeting is: Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 2:30pm in the Executive Boardroom #1500 (located in the east wing) at First Nations University, Regina campus. This meeting will be a video conference between the Regina (Room #1500), Saskatoon (Room #105) and PA (Room #200D) FNU campuses.
All faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend. Please contact Research.Office@uregina.ca to RSVP your attendance to this meeting, or if you are interested in this opportunity and would like additional information. If you are unable to attend the meeting, but interested in being a part of the planning committee, please let us know and we will include you on future correspondence.
The day could include posters, oral presentations, performances, display of artwork, and storytelling, but we are anticipating that the planning committee would establish their vision for the event. The Research Office is able to provide organizational support to the committee to assist in rolling out this vision.
The 2016 Indigenous Research Day will contribute to 3 of the strategic priorities in peyak aski kikawinaw – student success by encouraging students to presenting posters and research findings, research impact by advancing the profile and awareness of research successes within the University and the community and our commitment to our community by engaging with our community by sharing the wealth of Indigenous research occurring on campus.
